About

A journal for people who notice the room they are sitting in.

Who Is The Designer is a slow, independent journal about architecture, interiors, and the people who shape the spaces we live in. We publish one considered piece a week, and we believe a single careful sentence is worth a hundred quick ones.

We are interested in buildings that age well, rooms that ask nothing of you, objects you keep for thirty years, and the small, quiet decisions that separate a thoughtful space from a stylish one.

“Design, for us, is not what something looks like. It is what it asks you to do.”

We publish criticism as well as appreciation. We are happy to be wrong in public. The discussion section under each piece is the point, not a footnote — write to us from wherever you are.
